Altira Macau is rated a five star hotel and casino which is centrally situated in Taipa, Macau, China. The hotel and casino was previously known as The Crown Macau but the opening of The Crown Towers in 2009 resulted in the name change. Owner and operator of the establishment is Melco Crown Entertainment which is a combined venture of Crown Limited and Melco International Development Limited. The hotel and casino opened on the 12th of May 2007.

The front of the building features a waterfall that flows down along the side. It is near the Orient Golf Club and is only a ten minute drive from the ferry terminal and the Macau airport.

In 2008, under the previous name of Crown Macau, the establishment was awarded with the best casino interior design at the UK based International Gaming Awards.

The Altira Macau Hotel and Facilities

The Altira Macau hotel stands at a height of 160 meters making it the highest building in Taipa. There are 38 floor with more than 200 rooms, over 20 suites and several private villas. All of the hotel rooms; suites and villas were designed by world renowned interior designer, Peter Remedios. Many feature wall to ceiling windows with views overlooking the ocean.

Facilities in the rooms include ironing equipment; coffee maker; mini bar; flat screen televisions with satellite television channels and free internet access. The rooms are en-suite and provide hairdryers; bathrobes and complimentary toiletries.

Altira Macau has a spa and wellness centre which has panoramic views and provides a range of beauty and health treatments and services including hydrotherapy; steam rooms; saunas; thermal treatments and vitality pools. A fitness centre offering a variety of different exercise equipment is also available.

The Altira Macau casino floor is over 170 000 sq. ft. of gaming space. The casino is spread over the first few floors of the building. The casino is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and primarily focuses on baccarat tables.

Up to 500 slot games are available in the slot section on the right of the main casino floor. Like options in slot apps in Canada, slot machines go from low to high limits. A variety of table games are available with a total number of over 200 tables on the floor. Apart from baccarat, the casino table also offer poker; blackjack and craps; roulette amongst others. VIP tables are available especially for baccarat players.

Dining and Drinking at Altira Macau

The various dining establishments at the Altira Macau hotel and casino provide a range of cuisine from around Asia but there is an Italian restaurant serving a full Italian menu called Aurora. Kira and Tenmasa are both Japanese restaurants while Ying serves Cantonese dishes. Asian cuisine can be found at Monsoon Noodle Bar and a general array of dishes is served at Yi Pavilion.

The 38th floor of the Altira Macau building houses the 38 Lounge. Live music entertainment and a dance floor are available here while drinks are served both indoors and on an outdoor deck overlooking the ocean.
